  • About the School

The Fairways Schools were built in 1952 and 1953 and Fairways Primary School was formed in September 1985, when the Infant and Junior schools merged. There are over 400 pupils on roll with two classes in each year group, with most classes containing 30 children.

Set in extensive, attractive grounds, Fairways is a very happy, caring school graded 'Good' by Ofsted in July 2023. Our governors and staff believe that the school should provide a stimulating and challenging environment where a lifelong passion for learning is nurtured.

Fairways has a strong reputation for sport. We compete to a high standard in boys, girls and mixed team competitions. We also provide lots of opportunities for children to take on active roles in school, such as prefects, school councillors, play leaders, libarians, eco-protectors and reading ambassadors.

The Governors and staff strongly support our involvement in the community and the school has close links with St Aidan's Church (next to the school) as well as Fairways Pre-School and Rascals Nursery, which are based on the school site. A growing community of parents, 'Friends of Fairways' (FOF) has a long tradition of raising funds for the school.

The Governors and staff at Fairways is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
