Medical

The only medicines that can be accepted and administered by school staff must be prescribed. They must be in their original container and include all the pharmacist’s instructions and dosage.

The school will not administer prescribed medication to a child without a parent’s written consent. Medicine that has been prescribed to be taken 3 times a day can be administered at home and will not be administered during the school day.

A parent may come into school, at an agreed time, to administer the medicine. We will only accept and administer the medicine at school when it would be detrimental to the pupil’s health not to do so and where it is not possible to arrange doses to be taken solely outside of school hours.

We are not allowed to accept any over the counter medicines or products such as Calpol and Piriton.
