Thursday 5th March 2020 - World Book Day
The children in Reception enjoyed dressing up as their favourite book character on World Book Day.
Thursday 6th February 2020
The children in Reception really enjoyed their Superhero dress up day! During our themed weeks, they made an amazing metropolis by painting cardboard boxes. They loved our many role play activities, particularly freeing toy animals from blocks of ice that Mr. Freeze had created! They also wrote about their super powers and did some Superhero addition in Maths. In Computing the children made word cut outs of typical Superhero words such as “Bam!” “Bang!” and “Pow!” which demonstrated their excellent mouse control and also showed off their wonderful Phonics skills.

Last week, the children in Reception were busy looking at ways to help save the planet. Every person made a pledge promising to do something that will have less of a detrimental impact on the planet. We created our Recyclable Tree of Pledges. We also thought about the animals that might be affected by our actions and made a model of each one in our teams. We also had fun making bird scarers to protect the bulbs that we planted. Finally, we made up a dance using a carrier bag. While we were dancing, we thought about how to save the planet!

Class 1 and 2 visited Belfairs Wood today. We were looking for signs of Autumn and collecting the beautiful coloured leaves that had fallen to create artwork when we arrived back at school.

On Guy Fawkes Day, Classes 1 and 2 confidently performed their Firework Dance to family and friends.

Today, children in Reception went on an adventure of Knights, Princesses and Castles in search of Excalibur, the legendary sword of King Arthur! In our exciting drama workshop, we had to brave dragons and the person who stole the sword to save the world! By disguising ourselves as cats, we were able to succeed in our quest!
